This semi-detached house in Sutton Coldfield, B75, has swapped a tired timber front door for a new composite door from Amber Windows. The entrance sits in a recess beside the garage, under the flat canopy that runs across the garage and entrance, and the before and after photos below show just how much it has changed. As always, we carried out a free home survey first, built the door to measure in Coleshill, and our own installers took care of the fitting.
Before the work, the entrance had an old dark timber door with vertical glazing bars, a brass lever handle and a brass letterplate, alongside a glazed timber side section. The finish had worn and peeled away in places, especially along the bottom of the door. In its place we fitted a dark rosewood composite door in a matching rosewood frame. It has a single rectangular glazed panel in the top half, a chrome letterplate and lever handle at mid-height, and two raised panels below. The rich rosewood colour sits comfortably against the red brick and the white garage door next to it. The order also included uPVC windows and porch work, which these photos do not focus on.
Recessed entrances need careful measuring, as the new frame has to fit snugly between the brickwork on either side and sit properly beneath the canopy.
