Amber Windows has fitted new black uPVC windows and a black composite front door at this white-rendered house in Birmingham, B8. The order covered the windows across the house, a composite door and a uPVC door, and it started with a free home survey. Everything was made to measure in Coleshill.
The before photo shows the front of the house with its ground-floor bay under a tiled canopy, the old white frames, and the arched entrance to one side. The after photo is the same front with the new frames in: black uPVC windows in the bay and in the wide window above it, and a black composite door with decorative glass, set back in the entrance beside the bay. Scaffolding was put up so the first-floor window could be fitted safely, and it was still in place when the photo was taken. The render and the bay canopy were left as they were.
A bay window is made up of several angled sections, and each one has to be measured on its own. At the free home survey, our surveyor measures every window and door opening, checks the bay, the sills and the render, and talks you through colours such as black, glass and door styles. Our surveyor also checks whether scaffolding is needed so upstairs windows can be fitted safely. Everything is then built to size in Coleshill.
